  1. Will wifi be available at the conference venue? 

    • Yes, BT Openzone is available in all University residences and communal areas free of charge.   

  2. Is there an abstract booklet?  

    • Yes, it is available in electronic form only. Participants will be emailed a copy/link nearer the time of the conference.  

  3. Are there any meeting rooms? 

    • Yes.  There will be rooms which can be booked for private meetings.  All are on the ground floor of the Medical Building.  The rooms can be booked via the help desk which is located outside lecture theatre A in Physics.

  4. Is there a prayer room?

    • Yes.  Meeting room 4 on the ground floor of the Medical Building.

  6. How do I get to St Andrews from Edinburgh airport?  

  7. How do I get to St Andrews from Leuchars train station? 

    • To get to St Andrews from Leuchars train station you can either catch a bus to St Andrews bus station (Ref 21 H2) or a taxi. The bus stop and taxi rank are at the entrance to the train station.  

  8. I am travelling by car; is there parking nearby?  

    • Free parking is available close to the MSB building (Ref 17 F2) at Petheram Bridge car park (F2/G2) which is located at the entrance to the North Haugh campus. Parking is available at Agnes Blackadder Hall (Ref 4 D3/E3) for those staying there.   

  9. I am arriving late, where do I register? 

    • Registration will be open during the Opening Reception in MSB foyer (Ref 17 F2).  If you are not attending this, you can register in the Physics foyer (Ref 15, F3) on Monday morning from 8:30-9am  

  10. What is the dresscode for the Conference Banquet?

    • we have aspirations of you dressing "smart casual", but we recognise your luggage allowance may not permit packing of your best clothes

  11. Can I still get a ticket to the banquet? 

    • No, tickets to the banquet should have been booked when registering. 

  12. I haven’t registered for the public lecture, can I still attend? 

    • Yes, the public lecture is being streamed live to Physics lecture theatre A and so you can watch it there. The Booth lecture theatre (MSB) is likely to be full.  

  13. How do I get my presentation to the lecture theatre? 

    • Email your presentation (either as a PowerPoint (.pptx) or Acrobat (.pdf) file) by Wednesday 27 June to  The local organising committee will arrange for the talks to be available to the projectionists at the time and place of your presentation. 

  14. Where and when do I display my poster 

    • Seminar rooms 1 and 2 in the MSB building will be used to display the posters. There are two possibilities to put up your poster: during the Opening Reception on Sunday evening and between 8am and 9aMonday morningPlease note the location of your poster (last name and abstract ID) and put your poster in your designated spot.  There will be someone to help you find your designated spot on Sunday evening and Monday morning. Please remember that the poster boards are 2.1m tall by 0.92m wide and will accommodate A0 posters in portrait orientation or A1 posters in landscape orientation. 

  15. Can I still go on an excursion even though I haven’t pre-booked? 

    • No, there are limited places on the excursions and all places have been booked.  

  16. Is there time to switch between parallel sessions?

    • Yes, but you need to be quick; the lecture theatres are close together but only 90 seconds has been allowed for the speakers to change.  

  17. What refreshments/food is provided? 

    • Refreshments are provided at the mid-morning and mid-afternoon break (except Wednesday afternoon) and lunch is provided Monday to Friday (inclusive).    

  18. The café in Physics is busy; is lunch/refreshments provided anywhere else?  

    • Yes, coffee and lunch is provided in the MSB Café as well as the Physics Café.  If you have informed us of a dietary requirement, these will be located in the MSB Café area. 

  19. My partner/family are accompanying me. What can they do while I am at the conference?  

    • See the St Andrews page on the website and also the page about childcare. There will be a Facebook page and noticeboard at the registration desk to allow accompanying persons to meet up and arrange outings. To get to know each other, accompanying persons are welcome at the Opening Reception on Sunday evening.
